The OCRRA Blue Ribbon Recycler Award is a recognition given to organizations, businesses, schools, and other entities in Onondaga County, N.Y., that demonstrate exemplary recycling practices. This award acknowledges efforts in waste reduction, proper recycling, and promoting sustainable practices within the community. Recipients of the award have implemented effective recycling programs and contribute significantly to environmental conservation efforts in the region.
VIP Structures has implemented several recycling and waste reduction initiatives, including strategically placed trash, compost, and recycling locations throughout its space, all clearly indicated with signs specifying what can be considered trash, compost and recycling. VIP has partnered with OCRRA to verify the accuracy of its information, ensuring compliance with the regulations of its trash/pickup company.
VIP’s recycling efforts have led to measurable impacts, such as saving more than 20,000 water bottles from disposal by installing water refill stations and providing water glasses to reduce plastic use in the workplace. It also focuses on recycling various materials including paper, cardboard, plastics, metals and specific waste for composting. Additionally, VIP works closely with its cleaning company to ensure proper recycling and composting practices, including using appropriate bags and ensuring recycled products are loose and not tied in bags.
In addition to traditional recycling methods, VIP has adopted innovative techniques and technologies. VIP aligns itself with companies that share its vision of waste reduction. For example, it uses products like Chobani creamer, which supports waste reduction goals through its commitment to transitioning its plants to zero waste landfill facilities. These practices not only enhance the company’s sustainability but also serve as an educational tool for clients, promoting a ripple effect of environmental responsibility.
VIP’s commitment to sustainability extends beyond recycling. The firm also invests in energy-efficient technologies, green building practices and sustainable materials for its construction projects, ensuring minimal waste on job sites.
