The Trimble Robotic Total Station is a device that helps contractors perform layout tasks more efficiently than with conventional mechanical systems for residential and building construction. The Trimble Robotic Total Station is designed specifically for concrete, MEP and general construction contractors and allows the user to perform jobsite layout and measurement tasks.
VIP Structures’ concrete crew has been using the Total Station to install concrete building foundations and place building anchor bolts with precision. For example, at the ITT/Goulds project a few years ago, VIP Structures successfully placed 1,000 anchor bolts for the owner’s equipment. Each bolt had a tolerance to be set within one-sixteenth of an inch. The Total Station allowed our crews to perform that work within the specified tolerance.
At Vernon Downs, VIP Construction in Syracuse NY utilized the Total Station to lay out the building location based on known control points at the site. From there, all the building foundations were laid out and installed, including building column anchor bolts without the use of a tape measure, batter boards, or string lines. The building steel went together proficiently. Shortly after, VIP used the Total Station at a downtown Syracuse apartment building project to deal with building elements outside of foundations.
