The Jon Diaz Community Center is a dream, and now becoming a reality, of NFL running back and Onondaga High School alumni Latavius Murray. Named in honor of his late childhood friend, Jon Diaz, the Community Center will offer amenities for the youth of Nedrow, Murray’s hometown, to come together in a safe place and play, grow, and learn outside of school. With a focus on athletics, the Jon Diaz Community Center will feature play areas, a gymnasium, basketball courts, and fields — all things that Murray had to travel by bus to access when growing up.
It will be designed with modern architectural elements and create a message of strength and upward growth to the community. The facility is currently being designed by VIP Architectural Associates and IPD Engineering and will soon be built by VIP Structures
