Ribbon Cutting Marks Completion of One Webster’s Landing Apartment Project

VIP Development proudly celebrated the completion of the One Webster’s Landing Apartment project with a Ribbon ribbon-cutting ceremony held on July 24th. The event marked a significant milestone in the transformation of VIP’s former five-story headquarters into a modern residential space featuring 34 one-bedroom apartments.

"We understand the development that's happening in the area, so we knew when we moved out of the building as our headquarters that it was a great opportunity to convert it to apartments."

VIP team members were joined by Mayor Ben Walsh to celebrate the opening of One Webster's Landing.

The ceremony was attended by VIP team members, consultants, subcontractors, and distinguished guests who played vital roles in bringing the project to fruition. Speakers Meg Tidd, CEO of VIP, Chuck Wallace, President of VIP Development, and Mayor Ben Walsh told stories of the site’s history, expressed gratitude for the collaboration, and shared excitement over the development trends in the City of Syracuse.

Mayor Ben Walsh, whose support for city development has been instrumental in the success of projects like One Webster’s Landing, praised the initiative. He commended VIP Development for their commitment to revitalizing the area and providing high-quality housing options for the community.

In her remarks, Meg Tidd shared stories of her experiences at One Webster’s Landing going back to visiting the building at four years old. Meg shared gratitude to her father, Dave Nutting, VIP’s founder and former CEO who originally purchased the building in the 1980’s despite its run down condition. She finished up by highlighted the collaborative effort that transformed the historic building into a contemporary living space, emphasizing VIP’s commitment to enhancing the community. “I am exceptionally grateful for Chuck, his team, our architects, engineers, our construction folks, and our community partners who worked really hard to make this project a success.”

Chuck Wallace concluded by sharing the history of the building and outlining its unique character, “there’s a lot of historic fabric; original brick, plenty of large windows, tall ceilings, and exposed heavy wood timber beams which add a really cool industrial historic feel to the project.” He also spoke of the modern amenities that accompany the historic charm. “…we’ve got a fitness center in the building, we’ve got tenant storage available for those who want it. We’ve got bicycle storage in the building, and then one of the really nice perks is the parking that we offer here. Having the on-site parking right in front of the building is a really nice amenity especially for a downtown project.”

“It takes a village to get these projects from start to finish…so many people from VIP touched this project."

Wallace reiterated the teamwork required to complete the project and highlighted VIP’s integrated efforts in architecture, engineering, construction, and real estate development. “The great thing about development projects at VIP is that all the departments, all the companies get to play a role… we had folks from Construction, Architecture, Engineering, Sales and Marketing, IT, Finance, Accounting, HR and the Development team involved…to get this project to the finish line.”
